And the winners are…Sarwar and Aditi

Even though we already knew who was going to win the lead roles in Zee TV’s next, Race (thanks to Zee news), I was very excited to watch the Grand Finale of India’s Best today.

It was terrific. They gathered the top 32 contestants and presented the show as an award function, handing out awards for best screen performance, best face, best dancer both male and female etc. They even had performances in the middle, just like in a real award show. It was nice to see the 32 contestants all over again on the stage.

Various big celebrities were also invited on the show like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Nikki Aneja Walia, Kulraj Kaur Randhawa, Jagjit Singh, Smitha Thakarey, Amrita Rao and a few others.

The two winners were announced at the very end of the show and they are none other than Sarwar Ahuja from Hyderabad and Aditi Sharma from Lukhnow. The percentage between Mohit and Sarwar’s votes was very close. It was less that 2 percent. Nonetheless, the two that didn’t get selected, Mohit Chaddha from Mumbai and Shradha Arya from Delhi, were not disappointed as they both are bound to get a chance in the film industry sooner or later.

The mahurat of Race was held at the end of the show. Race is to be directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Viveck Vaswani and Nittin Keni (producer of Gadar).

Overall, the show was a hit and I enjoyed it emmensely. India’s Best is going to be back in 2005 for another talent hunt around the country. It’s going to be a big hit once again and thanks to the team of India’s Best, we will have another great talent in the Indian Film Industry.

Aditya – I haven’t seen the Indian Idol, but read some _not_ so good things about it. I think it all depends how the show/program is presented and what exactly is the concept.

Indian Idol seems to be a copy of American Idol and Saa Re Gaa Maa Paa. In general if a TV show/movies is being copied/inspired from another then they have to do their best as they have a comparison. But India’s Best was a new concept in India (perhaps world) and had a freshness. People got away from those saas bahu stuff.

Zee TV’s Antakshri has been a leader since so many years now. A lot of other channels started similar shows but they faded infront of Antakshari.

On the other hand Crorepati, though a copy/inspiration, was a hit in India because of money as well as its newness to the Indian audiences, apart from the presence of Big B. Other channels made its replicas such as Jeeto Chappad Phadke and Sawaal Dus Crore Ka….but again they lacked the qualities of being at the top.

I think (don’t know though) that Sarwar and Aditi would be close to audiences’ hearts as the audience saw them being an actor/actress and their emotions.

Though there were times when I felt that the behind the stage emotions were nothing but simply fake. Even the fact that Sarwar was dropped and then came back is mysterious. Even goofier was Aditi, Mohit Dagga and few others comeback. Why would some of the selected 32 contestants drop off the show suddenly? I can digets that 1 person dropped from such a prestigious thing..but I think there were 3-4 of them.
