India won, Pakistan lost.

Victory!

Starting out as a not-so-good game for the Indian Cricket Team, things got better and India finally took over the India-Pakistan ODI series in Multan by winning by 5 wickets. India won the toss and decided to field first. Indian bowlers, RP Singh and Pathan for the most part, sent the Pakistani Batsmen back to the pavilion at a mere score of 161 runs. Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket was a shock for the Indians as he was out at duck. But things were better from thereon and Rahul Dravid proved, yet again, that he is, in fact, Mr. dependable. He made 59 runs in 72 balls. Yuvraj Singh, who has been giving a good performance for the last two matches, made a total of 37 runs in 57 balls. Suresh Raina, a new batsman, also displayed his talent by making 35 runs in just 34 balls, 24 of which were from 4s. Remarkable!

Let’s see if India wins the final or not. Nonetheless, Indians are celebrating for their spectacular performance and an awesome win! Go team India!

Can’t wait for tomorrow!

I am so excited! I got my driving permit yesterday. The test was really easy, I just missed one question. My appointment was at 9:45 AM and I planned on catching the bus to the DMV office. I waited for the bus until 9:30 but it didn’t come. So, I asked my mom to drop me off at the office. And being the nice person that she is, my mom dropped me off at the DMV office at 9:42. I got through the registration but there was one problem. The guy said that even if I pass the test they can’t give me my permit until I bring in my glasses and pass the eye test. Yup, I forgot my glasses at home!

I passed the written test and after that I called my mom to bring my glasses there. And she did that. I passed my eye test and got my permit.

I have a year till the permit expires and in this time, I have to take the behind-the-wheel test and pass it. I am starting my driving training on Saturday (Tomorrow) with, none other than, Gaurav. :D

I am also going to open my first bank account tomorrow with Bank Of America. Is that exciting or what? I can’t wait for tomorrow. :)

Back and Bloggin’

Posted in Family # 1, Life by Aaina on the September 1st, 2005

Alright, that’s it! Enough of “taking breaks,” relaxing and most of all being lazy. I haven’t been blogging for two months now and I really miss doing it. But sometimes I got busy or just didn’t feel like writing. Nonetheless, I am back and blogging.

I am planning to make some changes on this website soon. Gaurav recommended the new look to me and I think I should try it.

Now, a recap. I will be attending Cal State University, East Bay (Hayward) starting fall 2005. I start college on Friday, September 23rd (a day after my mom’s birthday). I am taking 13 units right now, that is four classes. College Level Math, College Level English, Sign Language and General Studies. It’s too bad that I am going to have to wake up really early for my first class. But the good thing is that I have to do that only thrice a week, i.e. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I think I’ll do fine.

Apart from college, my 18th birthday was on July 10th. We went to Naz 8 in Fremont to watch a movie and had a little party at our house in the evening.

Nothing much happened, I am enjoying my vacation and life’s going good.

Oh yeah, I love Full House!

Happy Holi

I haven’t updated for so long…I feel guilty.

Well, I haven’t had any inspiration to write lately and have been busy with school. But today, I thought I should wish everyone a very Happy Holi. So, Happy Holi :). Here’s a little FYI for those who don’t know what Holi is: A popular and traditional Indian festival of celebrating the arrival of spring with colors. People put powdered color on each other’s faces and throw water balloons.

I remember when I was in India we used to have so much fun throwing balloons and putting colors on people. But it’s no fun here. Oh well.

I can recall one incident when I was about 10-11, I was shooting water at people while hiding behind plants a day before Holi. My mom was helping my brother with studying for his final exam which was the next day and I was all alone outside, “having fun.” A white car was coming and I became alert and got ready to shoot some pink colored water. The windows of the car were open as it was a hot day and the water went inside the car, coloring the seats pink. And guess what, the seats inside the car were white. The water also got on the three people sitting inside the car. I freaked out as this was supposed to be for fun, not for harming someone. The car went on and I was relieved. But after going a few feet furthur, the car stopped and the lady, her son and her daughter stepped out of the car and came towards our house. I came out from behind the plants. the lady told me to call my mom and she seemed very angry (obviously). I told my mom that someone wanted to talk to her. The lady told my mom to keep me inside the house. She showed her what I had done. My mom defended me by saying that I am just a kid and that I was just having fun. But the lady was furious, she said a lot of stuff which I don’t really remember now and don’t want to remember it.

At the end of it, I was shivering, I was very scared. My mom yelled at me for the rest of the day and I was very quiet. I felt really bad. The feeling has faded through these 6-7 years but I still remember the incident. Phew, glad that day is over and will never come again (well, who know? :P). Anyway, I was able to enjoy Holi the next day but made sure that I don’t attack any cars, only people and that too, people who were willing and ready to play Holi. :D

I miss those days! Happy Holi…

Happy Birthday Bhaiya!

Posted in Family # 1, Stupendous Brother by Aaina on the February 10th, 2005

It was Gaurav’s birthday yesterday, so: Happy Birthday Bhaiya!

I, being a very caring sister ( :P ), gave Gaurav a present, which was an IPOD. He seemed happy with it.

We celebrated in the evening when all my uncles, aunts, cousins and my grandmother came to our house. We cut the cake and all that good stuff. It was fun and I wish Gaurav many more birthdays ahead. :)

Au revoir
~Aaina.
